The Casa de Luz Store

The Casa De Luz store is expanding!

We will be carrying a variety of organic grains, beans, sea vegetables, nuts, seeds, condiments, seasonings, tamari, shoyu, umeboshi products, ingredients for natural remedies, the highest quality body care line available, organic hemp oil and seeds, non toxic baby products, organic gardening books, dvd's, seeds, and starter kits. We have local hand carved bowls, spoons, and cutting boards made from fallen trees in the area and rubbed with organic coconut oil.

Sunday Morning Knitting Circle Forming

A group of community members have been discussing the formation of a Sunday Morning Knitting Circle in the the Casa de Luz Dining Room beginning in 4 January 02009 and meeting from 9:00am to 11:00 am.  For further information please contact Jinji at ohjinji@mac.com.   

Casa de Luz Groups on Facebook!

We've created a Casa de Luz Facebook Group called "Casa de Luz."  The group will provide members with the opportunity to be notified of community events, engage in discussion, contact each other, discover similar events and interests from like-minded members, and view photos.  We can even have virtual book groups (Visual Bookshelf)!

There's also a "Casa de Luz Parents" group for families wishing to exchange ideas and engage in discussion pertaining to family culture.

Hours of Operation for Casa de Luz Dining Room

With the exception of Christmas Day, we are opened daily.  Our ours are below:

  • Breakfast:  7:00 - 10:00 am Monday through Friday; 8:00 - 10:00 am Saturday and Sunday
  • Lunch: 11:30 - 2:00 pm Monday through Saturday; 11:00 am - 2:00 pm Sunday
  • Dinner: 6:00 - 8:30 pm 7 days a week

Casa de Luz Parents Group

We have formed a "Casa de Luz Parents" group to enable community members to correspond, exchange ideas and experiences pertaining to raising children in homes with organic, whole foods; share recipes, resources, and parenting techniques to encourage healthy, integrated family culture; and to post news of any suitable family-related events at Casa de Luz (playground nights) or in the Austin community.  We will communicate through a FaceBook Group called "Casa de Luz Parents."  All you need to do is join Facebook (free) and create your profile, then search "

Bring Us Your Jars, Please!

Our supply of jars (for "to go" soups) is running low.  We'd be grateful for any leftover jars and lids you can return or bring to the Dining Room.  Many thanks.

Poached Pears in Sauce: New Dessert Reviewed by Casa de Luz Patron

In the "Evolving Art of Casa de Luz Deserts" (you can read that story from a week or so ago under "Recent Posts") we mentioned that Barbara Martin and her dessert staff would be developing some new desserts.  The first new dessert has arrived and has received great reviews from Casa de luz diners!

Where's the Bread?

Attention Casa de Luz BREAD Customers: 

Barbara Martin, Casa de Luz's Baker, will be making breads at Casa de Luz again when the weather gets cold. 

In the mean time, she is happy to take orders for Sourdough Steamed Rye Bread, which she will make in her own home using fresh ground biodynamic rye bread.
