Hey everyone! So last night my Fire TV remote mysteriously disappeared (I'm blaming the couch for now 😂), and I had no idea how frustrating it would be to try using the Fire Stick without it. I thought maybe the mobile app would save me, but it wouldn't connect to my TV at all. Has anyone found a reliable way to control Fire TV without the remote? Preferably something that doesn’t involve buying a new one.

Would be great if they made the app work offline somehow.
Oh man, I’ve been there. Mine went missing right before movie night with friends, and I was this close to giving up. The Fire TV app works fine if your phone and Fire Stick are on the same Wi-Fi, but that’s the catch: if your Fire Stick was last connected to a network you can't access now (like after a router change or if you're at a hotel), the app is useless. What saved me was connecting a USB keyboard via an OTG adapter. No joke—it worked instantly and let me get into the settings to update the Wi-Fi. Also, if your TV supports HDMI-CEC, you might be able to use your TV remote to navigate.
Here's a solid guide I came across that walks through all of this with actual steps: control Fire TV Stick without a remote . Honestly, it's a lifesaver when you're stuck. I now keep a spare mini Bluetooth keyboard around just in case. It’s not perfect, but it beats trying to type passwords with a nonexistent remote!
