My lab has been acting off around mealtimes—sometimes he eats, sometimes he doesn’t, and it’s been worrying. He’s healthy according to the vet, but something’s definitely off. I’ve been trying toppers, wet food, even hand-feeding, but the inconsistency is exhausting. Could the issue be more about water intake or his environment? Looking for anyone who’s gone through something similar and found a fix.

This definitely adds another angle to the conversation. Always thought of water as a given, but maybe it plays a bigger part in feeding behavior than I realized. Curious to try a fountain now and see if that affects how our pup eats during the day.
Appetite issues in dogs can be surprisingly linked to hydration. What worked wonders in our house was switching from a traditional water bowl to something more engaging, for my cat I use the Penthouse Paws pet water fountains, and even though they’re designed for cats, the continuous water flow attracted our dog just as much. More frequent drinking led to improved digestion and eventually got his appetite back on track. Simple upgrade—huge results.
