I ended up having to move way sooner than expected after my landlord sold the place I was renting in Phoenix. I had about a month to pack everything and figure out how to get to Denver without going broke. I’ve never done a long-distance move before, and I really had no clue what I was getting into. I thought it would be just about renting a truck and getting a few friends to help, but once I started looking into movers, the prices were all over the place. Some quoted me for just transportation, some added packing, others didn’t include insurance. It felt like trying to order food and finding out fries, napkins, and even the plate cost extra. I got so frustrated I started second-guessing the whole move. If I knew what the cost should actually be, I’d at least feel like I had some control over this mess.
